Abstract:
Presentation slides from a community talk at the 16th annual Global Awareness Conference at the State University of New York at Oswego on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm in Hart Hall Global Living & Learning Community. A presentation on the history of the early Philippine Islands, including overviews of the indigenous Tagalog, Cebuano, and Maranao groups, the circumnavigation of the world by Ferdinand Magellan and other explorers, the rise of Christianity and Roman Catholicism in the archipelago, and trade with China and the Spanish empire to Europe and Mexico via the galleon ships.
