Summary:
"The First Presbyterian Church, organized November 21, 1816, use the schoolhouse at the northeast corner of West Third and Seneca Streets as a place of worship until 1825, when near the center of what is now West Park, a church building of wood, 54 by 80 feet, and costing about $6000, was erected. In 1841 an addition of 20 feet to the rear of the building was made, bu ton October 24 fire destroyed the building, with loss of all contents. The fire was believed incendiary in origin and the village offered a reward of $750 for apprehension of the incindiary. Two years later the present first Church building was started." ( eng )
