Abstract:
Discover Wellness: A Worksite Health Promotion Program by Shannan Hall, Whitney Kmetz, and Kyle Lauria. Discover Wellness: Find a Healthier you is a worksite health promotion program supervised by Dr. Elizabeth Keida in the Department of Health Promotion and Wellness at SUNY Oswego. Discover Wellness was designed to bring a worksite wellness program to employees on the SUNY Oswego campus. With our university moving towards a wellness culture is it imperative for us to reach employees; a critical part of our campus community. The program aims to improve the overall health of the employees and reduce the risk of chronic disease which ultimately improves employee productivity. “Our mission is to create an inclusive wellness culture on campus. We aim to provide faculty and staff with opportunities to practice health and wellness-based initiatives on campus and also in their personal lives. These experiences will equip our faculty and staff with awareness, knowledge, and skills to advocate for a culture of healthy practices to promote chronic disease prevention and ultimately improve quality of life.”
